dmj Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I'm after some advice on remote/streaming for games. I got rid of my gaming rig years ago and now only have a macbook (home) and thinkpad (work, linux). There's some recent windows games that I'm itching to play but neither of my devices are suitable. I don't want to shell out on an expensive gaming rig so I'm thinking of hiring one. What would edugeeks recommend? I've had a look at geforce now which looks like it would fit the bill, but I'm not so keen on monthly subscriptions and want to keep the cost low but at the same time get the best experience I can. Are there other services people would recommend - Ideally pay per play with steam import. The alternative I was thinking of was spinning up a cloud VM with some hefty GPU but wondered if these would be suitable and what technology is best to use for streaming? Which cloud provider has the best GPU's available (UK) for this sort of thing and what vm series? I was intending to build it all out in terraform/ansible and can automate all the shutdowns/provisioning, but will use a service if it's cost effective or much better. requirements: Macos/Linux client. Steam games import. Low latency gaming. My internet connection is 300MB/s fibre.
TwistedHelixis Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I would probably use / pay for geforce now, while testing other options.
