karldenton Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Hi We are currently a MAT of 2 large primary schools. The CEO has asked me to do a plan should another school join with us. I have one from when we became 2 schools, however I think we ran before we could walk and essentially did it over a couple of weeks. Does anyone have a plan they are willing to share ? Things like migrating emails into our tennancy, AD accounts, etc. Lets presume they are on our WAN but not Azure It's issues like do you loan a server to set it up on the MAT domain, setup AD etc then migrate over to the other server? When do you image the machines so they are on the same domain etc? Many thanks
mavhc Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 If you're adding one set of users/data/systems to your current set, now is the time to rationalise everything, username formats, document storage, etc. Instead of moving documents to a new file share, move them online, that way it's better for the users, not just change for little reason. Offer your existing vast resources of lesson plans, documents, software etc to the new school, so they gain something by moving. Find out where they're wasting time, what doesn't work for them, their pointless manual processes because no one taught them to mail merge/use groups/have online real time collaborating documents, and make their lives better. Audit all the software they actually use, preferably by actual data, not surveys. Make it so they need to know fewer passwords, single sign on. And then keep a backup of the old system anyway, so you can rescue them in the future and be a hero. 1
