Hello,

I accidently released 2 iPads from our ASM when troubleshooting an issue instead of unnassigning the MDM server. Does anyone know if it's possible to add them back? I have seen elsewhere it may be possible through AC2 but has anyone had any experience doing this and how did you get it to work?

Thanks!

You can usually do this through the device enrolment procedure in your MDM.

Which MD do you use?

I believe if an iPad is being added to DEP/Automated Device Enrolment, there is a period of 30 days where the device can be un-enrolled by removing the profile on the device itself, but after that you can onyl do this through ASM.

I do it with Apple Configurator 2, applying a Blueprint that you configure with both the MDM enrollemnt URL & your ASM account with device permissions.

I would contact wherever you purchased them from with the serial number and see if they can add them back for you. If for some reason they cant you can add them back using AC2 but as stated above the MDM profile is removable for 30 days if you use this method so I would try and avoid it if you can.

None of the above will work, once a device has been removed it CAN NOT be added by your reseller. I am franky amazed how many times people have done this when you get a nice big warning message in ASM before you tap the confirm button.

You will now have to use Apple Configurator and either an iPhone or an up to date Mac in order to re-enrol the iPad to ASM.
