Azure AD Only user Deactivation

Morning All,

 

Quick question with Azure AD.

 

If i were to disable and remove a license from an Azure user is that user mail box still accessible?

 

The way the 3rd party IT were doing before i left was to turn their mailbox into a shared mailbox to give users access. Whats the best process for deactivating users in the cloud?
