fiza Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Has anyone used Smoothwall to allow through a Vimeo on Demand video? Our English Dept want to pay for a video that is behind the Vimeo VOD Service and we are not sure how to allow this through the Smoothwall.
ibpalle Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 We have a category for Vimeo - I would assume this needs to be not blocked as well as categories like Audio/Video. We do have a downloadable list of all the categories in our blocklist that you can find here: https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004511520 - take a look at the multimedia section. This is updated daily so it's a good idea to take a look every 3-4 months in case there are new categories that would be beneficial to use. Is there any difference to a VOD service and the rest of Vimeo?

nicholab Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 This is what I don't know. The VOD service is behind a paywall. Can you put a custom category together for staff?
fiza Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 Can you put a custom category together for staff? I could but what would I put in it?
ibpalle Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 First find out why it's blocked. What's on the blockpage? What is the reason for the block? Use the Vimeo category we have created in the blocklist under multimedia for an allow policy is one option but may not help depending on why it's getting blocked so find that out first.

The situation is this : To see if the video gets blocked we have to pay to watch the video as it's behind the paywall at the link given I wanted to know if Smoothwall treated paid for content on Vimeo differently?
ibpalle Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Smoothwall does not know if content is paid for or not and it doesn't care really. It just cares about the content. If it gets blocked due to inappropriate content, you will have a URL you can allow. 1
