WannabrewUK Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Hi All, We're with Schools Broadband using Netsweeper on a Mixed Windows 10 & Chromebook environment. The Netsweeper Wagent is a little flaky on windows, but for the most part works, but it's the Chromebooks we're really having a problem with. If just doesn't show us who is browsing / searching on the web when using Chromebooks, which is a real issue when students get up to no good. We've had multiple tickets open with SBB over the last few year to try and get this resolved, but each time we open one progress is very slow. Other jobs come in to us and the issue gets put on the back burner. Has anybody managed to get this working? Thanks
DavidYoung Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Are you running Wagent on the Chromebooks? We have generally found this to be pretty reliable (not SBB, but Netsweeper), more so than on Windows (by the way, if you deploy the MSI as a service it is much better than login scripts).
WannabrewUK Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 Yes, we're running the Wagent on Chromebooks, but Netsweeper doesn't identify who went where in its logs. It just says someone with pupil access. It's not great for prevent or safeguarding.
DavidYoung Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 That's weird, Wagent should send the logged in username to Webadmin to associate a client. What client name does it show on the block page, also, what Wagent settings do you have listed in the Google Admin console where the extension is installed?
Jawloms Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 And they have the correct port number? If we set port 31393 then we get a student level of filtering without the wagent, but also no idea of who accessed what. If we specify 31280 it relies on the agent as to the level of filtering, and populates who did what.
lwatson213 Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Afternoon - I've recently moved from an SE Netsweeper role to SBB and can say this doesn't sound right. There have been multiple ways of workstation agent working in the SBB network and it has been deployed in various ways by customers. It would be great to understand the method you are currently using and go from there. The workstation agent for Chrome, in my previous experience, has been very reliable when it's setup correctly. Feel free to drop me a PM, I'd be happy to discuss it with you directly and to show you how it should be working. Luke Watson | Product Manager Schools Broadband 1
