Some of our teachers use publisher (professional plus 2019). When you open (rather than downloading) a publisher file stored on sharepoint it seems to create some sort of temporary file.

Subsequent attempts to open publisher cause this temporary file to reopen.

Saving them or dismissing them have no impact on them opening

I now have some users that have 10 or more temporary files opening up every time they launch the program

Any ideas how to stop this?

Thanks

Do they open the files through the browser by any chance? We had loads of issues with this sort of thing to start with when publisher is being used. Now we have different Sharepoint sites document areas synced to the machines and opening through there works fine and solved a lot of our problems here.

Thank you - I think this is what we are going to have to do. Did you ever discover a method of stopping it?

Publisher is dead. They need to be weened off it for their own good.
