Identifying bottlenecks

On release 60, so maybe I'll hold off on that update!

 

Smoothwall may or may not be the culprit, I'm getting a new and improved box over the next few months, so I'm hoping that will confirm one way or the other.

 

We jumped from 57 to 60 and then on to 61. Over the summer everything seemed fine however come 5th September, we have been plagued with our Smoothwall Filter (guardian) on the main domain falling over every 45 mins.

 

We think there is something hitting the smoothwall when students are using the computers and it's overloading the webfilter / auth service.

 

We run onprem impero too which is linked to impero cloud. Having talked to impero we have turned off communication to Impero Cloud.

 

I can't help but think our issues might be related.

Not wishing to jinx it, but the situation looks to be in a much better place.

 

I think a combination of configuring the core switch to be priority 0 for spanning tree, preventing the Chromebooks from talking to each other (and other devices on the LAN) and bypassing an aging DC on the Chromebooks has helped.
