Google Chrome New Tab Page Not Staying Signed In

Hello!

 

So have a bit of an odd one here...not sure when, but it seemss like everyone in my Google Workforce domain had a change in the last couple months to their new tab page within Google Chrome. When a user opens up a new tab in Chrome, it opens up to the "normal" looking page...but they don't seem to be signed in! The user can click on the shortcut to Gmail, which does in fact take them to their mail...but the Google Waffle won't show anything specific to their account includding customized layout changes as well as apps that we have added to the waffle. In addition, if the user clicks on Search from the Google waffle, it'll take them to the search page and it'll give them the blue sign in button instead of keeping them already signed in... Now, once a person is in a "normal" Google app like Drive, Docs, etc., they can click on the wafffle and all is normal. To confirm it was related to the Workforce, everything looks normal on my home computer with a personal Google account...at home, I can click on a new tab and it shows my account picture in the top right of the web page as normal and I can click on the waffle like normal. But our work accounts seem to be different. I first noticed the change a month or two ago and didn't think much of it as though it was something just with me and I can work around it...but now that our schools are starting back up, I'm getting several users who have reported it to me.

 

Does this make sense to anyone? Is a super weird issue and I've been trying to search Google and Reddit for this and I can't seem to find anyone else having this same issue...

 

Any ideas?
