Hello,

I'm trying to add a Ruckus Zone Flex R500 to our Ruckus Zone Director ZD1200 but don't know where to start. Any help would be much appreciated?

Thanks in advance Lee

With Ruckus I've always plugged them in, it has contacted the Director, got any updates, got the config and been ready about 15 mins later. At one point you did have to go into the Director and allow the AP to join. Think it depends on how it was setup.

This would all depend on the VLAN being correct and any other security conditions being met.

Hi Lee - first thing to check would be whether you have enough AP management licenses to cover the additional AP. You should be able to see this in the admin panel on the dashboard. The AP licenses need to match, or exceed, the APs in the deployment. Next thing would be to confirm the AP supports the firmware you're running. If you have other R500s on the network this won't be an issue - they use most FW versions up to 10.4. If you're either running a new AP network, or an old AP network that might be worth checking. There is then a guide to add them to your network available here - https://docs.commscope.com/bundle/zd-10.3-userguide/page/GUID-C9AA1189-125E-4123-9EF0-1FAFD115EE8E.html this is for 10.3 but it's a similar, if not identical process on other versions. Any issues, please let me know.

Thanks very much for the response, It turned out we don't have enough AP management licenses to cover the additional AP. Hopefully once we get this it will be discovered. Thanks Lee

Great - glad it was an easy fix. If you provide the partner you're working with your ZD SN when you order the license and associated support line it will ensure the license is aligned to your account.
