A way to record sixth formers having lunch at school

Hi All,

 

I have been asked to look into a way that the school can quickly record the names of sixth former's that are having school lunches so they can be charged. We have a small dining room which means only one year group can eat at a time so the method we use would need to be speedy. The sixth former's all have mifare badges and the majority eat lunch from outside but the finance department want a way for the school to be able to have a record of students that eat lunches in school so only those students are charged. At the moment we have no idea who is eating lunches

 

We have Fastrak Biostore and have tills but I have been told that using the tills will take too long so we have to look into a different method. In an ideal word we have a method of scanning their cards and storing that info somehow.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Honestly I'd recommend finding out why it's "too long", scanning a card and pressing a "lunch button" shouldn't be taking over a couple of seconds to register and do it properly via the catering system.

 

If there's issues with specs of the server, or finding buttons etc that can all be changed to solve it
