T_Lister Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Dear forum, I maybe completely misssing something, but does Ruckus keep any form of temporary log of devices that have been connected. Importanly the MAC address and user. Even if the log is only there for a few days. ZoneDirector ZD3050
Net-Ctrl Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Hello - there is a log in the ZD3k. Rather than time, it is to do with record count/line count. I can't remember the official count it records. On a school site, which tends to be busy it normally records around 24hrs if the site was closed or quiet it would last longer. It will show MACs but due to MAC randomisation, I don't think you will be able to use the data to pinpoint a user. To view the log go to 'System' - 'All Events/Activities'
T_Lister Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Ah yes, I think I found this before. It either gives me a MAC or a user, never both on the same line. I'll need to double check when I'm next on site. It's all to do with us moving to a system when we're not using an ACL and MAC address database where we can match user to device. For example I can see now that guests are joining to an access point, but if there is no username it identifies the user as a MAC instead, never both.
