A bit of a thread wake-up, is anyone on the new AB Cloud version yet? They are retiring the trusted V7 soon so have to make a move in one direction or another.

Yes, I switched over from V9 to Cloud today. The interface is just about identical to V9 and works well. The V9 msi uninstalled without issue on 99% of the computers, it couldn't really have gone much better than it did.

AB Tutor has a YouTube channel which has lots of videos explaining how it all works.

Thanks, I haven't got as much confidence at the moment

Couldn't install with manually inputting our proxy address

Teacher said the demo mode to students just lagged and then crashed the whole program

Thumbnails weren't appearing on most PC's but then a few turned up a bit later which is strange

I didn't have to worry about any proxy settings, just accepted the defaults and it worked. As for performance, I would think that fast broadband would be essential. If V7 worked well then you know your internal network is ok, what bandwidth is your broadband?

Interested to hear people's experiences of this. We used Senso over lockdowns and it worked ok for something over the internet, but was too much latency for classroom suites (we have 300Mb here)

I would say it was released a little too early. I have a number of remote workstations to support and it suits my needs pretty well.

As for day to day working around the school I would recommend V9 for now as it's faster and more reliable. AB Cloud takes a little longer to do everything which is to be expected and it has a few small issues which are yet to be fixed.

For example: Thumbnails of workstations are a bit hit and miss, sometimes they show in the console pretty quickly, sometimes they take a long time to show, sometimes they never show.

Time to update this thread. I gave up with AB Tutor Cloud and switched to classroom cloud instead. Hated it and ended up going back to AB Tutor Cloud a year later as it has some really handy features which were sorely missed. They have just released version 9.4.5 which has squished a very annoying disconnect bug. I would say it's now perfect for my needs.

There is a free trial if you are looking for an alternative.
