Class charts RAG

Can anyone explain how the RAG works on class charts. I know how to set it up etc but we are currently having a problem with the A level grades and the RAG isn't working.

 

Also does the RAG work on the letter U when using KS3/KS4 grades 1-9 & U

It does not work with anything that is not numerical, when we used it I used to export from Sims and convert U grades, BTEC's etc to a number in excel before importing into Classcharts.
