Hi All,

Any ideas on the best way to deploy SQLite for student use as obviously it requires cmd access however we have this blocked

Thanks

Can't teach people to program properly without a terminal, it's all just theory without the real tools

Sorry, I can't put this politely, but that's utter tosh. At school age, teaching the theory is a valuable part of education. Put pupils in front of a full stack development environment at the outset would alienate many.

That's why science is all theory. And DT is about pretending to make things with lego instead of using a saw

Who said anything about a full stack environment though?

SQLite is implemented as a library that gets compiled into the finished application, rather than as a separate service / server that an application communicates with. You should be able to create, add to and read from a database file all from an application without needing to use the command line. For beginner programmers, that might be simpler - less different tools to switch between. It probably isn't very easy for the beginner to visualise the structure and content of a database, though, hence why you normally install some command-line tools to help you create and manipulate databases. As others have pointed out, graphical tools are probably going to be better for this as they should be able to show structure and content of a database in a nice visual way.

sqlite.dll is built into Windows 10.

You can copy sqlite3.exe somewhere and people can just run that

You can install sqlite browser with "choco install sqlitebrowser"
