browolf Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) A situation occurred where an account got deleted by accident and I need to get it back. When I undeleted the account from deleted items it didn't restore the mailbox as well. The account and onedrive restored but the mailbox didn't. According to a mailbox checker in support, the mailbox is "soft deleted". There's a powershell command "undo-softdeletedmailbox" When I run this command it doesn't work and I get this error More than one accepted domain was found when searching for 'domain.ORG'. I found a section called accepted domains in exchange admin centre, mailflow which shows ourdomain.org ourdomain.org_RELOCNF_931971d5 The properties of relocnf show Name: ourdomain.org_RELOCNF_931971d5 accepted domain: ourdomain.org I have no idea where this 2nd domain has come from and it does not show in o365\admin\settings\domains Ourdomain is a domain we bought through the 365 tenant and is not the default domain. The accepted domain properties of relocnf show Name: ourdomain.org_RELOCNF_931971d5 accepted domain: ourdomain.org Any ideas what to do about this? Edited May 6, 2022 by browolf
chaplic Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 That screams MS ticket to me, but failing that I'll investigate creating a new mailbox and restoring that mailbox into it. 1
browolf Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) That screams MS ticket to me, but failing that I'll investigate creating a new mailbox and restoring that mailbox into it. I have a ticket open with microsoft but the agent does not seem to know what to do. I've restored the mailbox into a new account mailbox. The weird domain seems to be the main issue as it's also stopped us from adding aliases on any account with that domain. Edited May 9, 2022 by browolf
chaplic Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Persist with the ticket and ask for escalation. MS DO have really, really good support guys but getting to them can require persistence.
browolf Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Persist with the ticket and ask for escalation. MS DO have really, really good support guys but getting to them can require persistence. I opened a new ticket with the alias issue and that guy got it solved in a few hours and removed the erroneous domain. their resolution was "The diagnostics performed shows that there is a mismatch of the number of accepted domains in Exchange Online and Azure AD. Ran some repairs to fix the issue with syncing from exchange to Azure. "
KK20 Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) I had a similar issue some years ago. This was because when I created the initial 365 tenant, it did not initially get approved as an education tenant (so did not get my one million A1 licenses and 15Pb of sharepoint storage), MS support sorted this but what they did was change our onmicrosoft domain (not a problem as it was brand new at the time, we were never going to use our onmicrosoft domain for email or access etc). The old onmicrosoft domain somehow lingered in the background but wasnt listed anywhere. For us, this became an issue at agreement renewal and reactivation of our 365 licenses, it wasnt accepted because of the shadow onmicrosoft domain, I also needed two tickets to sort it out.
