Enterprise State Roaming - Mixed results / questions

Wondering if anyone has had an success with this.

 

We've enabled ESR for some select users for testing (including myself) as we want to move away from roaming profiles, but do what we can to keep user experience consistent. UE-V looks to be left in the dust by Microsoft so I have just been focusing on ESR.

 

We flipped the switch in Azure the other day and after some initial hurdles, we got the thing enabled. During testing though it appears the only thing that is syncing is the desktop wallpaper and taskbar colour... wow! Whenever we make other changes we get verbose events in event viewer under SettingSync/Debug which state: "ignoring local change to Windows-Taskbar due to SSF removal velocity switches. File onecoreuap\shell\roaming\settingsynccore\settingsyncinfo\notifylocalsettingchange.cpp line 242"

 

In this case you can see it's ignoring changes we make to our taskbars... for some reason. We don't have any GPOs set for ESR / Settings Sync in this case, as the policies options are enabled by default; so we don't need to touch Group Policy in that regard unless we want to restrict various bits from syncing.

 

I've gone through the documentation again which I noted has changed since last year during the planning phase of this implementation. Previously it looked as though ESR would synchronize things like taskbar settings / position and items. The updated documentation suggests it does not, however in the troubleshooting documentation they still suggest you try playing with the taskbar to test ESR is working. So I'm a bit confused on that front.

 

I'd also love to know why various preferences are being 'ignored' due to 'SSF removal velocity switches', whatever that means. Can't find anything on that online. I realise that's just a verbose event but it sounds like there's a setting somewhere, or we haven't ticked a box or something. Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues?

I'm having the same issue.

 

I'm testing on some Win 10 20H2 VMs. It's only syncing wallpapers and nothing else.
