Office 365 - Is there a way to find out what time/date an email was delivered?

Hello All,

Just a quick question; I have two users, one said she sent the email at 2:28pm on Monday and the other is saying they only recieved it in their inbox around 7:00pm. The CEO has got involved and wants to know the truth. Surprise, surprise the original message has been deleted by the recepient email address.

I can normally do this through TrendMicro but it won't show internal emails as they're not technically outgoing.

Is there a way in the O365 portal so I can see when the original email was delivered and recieved to the recepient?

Thank you everyone :)

Hope you had a good Easter Break!

EDIT: I've checked the senders email account and it does show that it was sent at 2:28 but I need to prove the exact time it was recieved by the recepient.

You can use the Message Trace option in the Exchange Admin Centre to see messages received by recipient and also see messages sent by recipient.

You won't be able to see the body of the message, but you can see the subject, sender, recipient, times and even if it was delivered or sent to junk/quarentine.

Depending if you have the new or old 365 admin view enabled it’s either in exchange admin, mail flow and message trace then just put their two emails as the search filter

Keep in mind that this will show when it was delivered to their exchange online mailbox. Unless they’re using OWA, Client issues may cause them to genuinely not see the message in their local inbox until later.
