Advertising posts, PMs and recommendations: please read

We are just starting to experience the annual pre-BETT spike in the number of attempts to bypass EduGeek’s advertising rules. Thank you to all members who take the time to report these posts. It happens every year

 

Only sponsors are permitted to advertise on the forums and the income earned from our paid advertising and sponsors is what keeps this site free for everyone to benefit from. We work hard to stop this forum being overwhelmed by spammy posts.

 

Suppliers:

 

Please don’t embarrass your customers by asking them to promote your product. If they love your product they’ll say so of their own accord and as part of their normal posting. They won’t be happy when we contact them to say we know. We and our members also notice when a new user only seems to post about a particular product.

 

Please note that only sponsors may use the forums in a commercial capacity. This includes:

 

- Inviting members to contact you on or off the forum

- Listing company/contact details in your signature

- Contacting members, including by Private Message

- Asking members to recommend you

- Product recommendations

- Any sales type posts

- Quotes

- Market research

- Promoting your company's presence at BETT or any other trade show

- Event promotion whether free or not

If you are asked to recommend a product by a supplier, you are welcome to contact us and and we will happily have a discreet quiet word with the supplier on your behalf.
