Guest Guest Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Im looking for a cabinet/stand for our school hall so that i can leave the laptop or possibly computer permanently in place. It doesnt need to be anything fancy, just lockable, and big enough to store a laptop. This is the sort of size i would need, but by looking at it it may need to be abit deeper as that doesnt look like a laptop will fit. http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/images/products/uk_382874_1_std.jpg Also we have an amp which would need a home so shelves within the cabinet would be better. More long the lines of a HiFi stand but lockable. Any suggestions?
stevewood Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Hi We have looked at a similar idea, Moby Junior, although metal may do the job, but Roche AV among others have a wooden version on wheels. Never seen it for real so no recomendation

At £550 id rather just leave the laptop out and hope it didnt get nicked, and if it did replace it with the £500 ive saved! Edit/ * lmao @ Moby Go, thats a song not a lockable cabinet!
Sirbendy Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) We did it cheapass style... Had a chat to the caretaker, got an old wooden cabinet with a shelf in it. One big shackle lock and padlock later, job jobbed. Holesaw in the back for cabling and ventilation, one mains lead, 2 video leads and the sound wire coming out. CRT monitor (not pretty, but tough) on top of the cabinet, holes drilled into the cabinet and CRT, big cableties holding it firm. Speakers either side of the CRT, tied into location. Inside the cabinet are a 4 way power brick, a Sempron 3000+ PC, KB, mouse, video splitter and sub, and the remotes for projector and presenter. The whole cabinet is secured to the wall with a kensington. Works very well..for a freebie. http://www.jemjabella.co.uk/sirbendy/images/work/theatre.JPG http://www.jemjabella.co.uk/sirbendy/images/work/theatre1.JPG Edited June 20, 2008 by Sirbendy
