Kindle Kids

Does anyone have a "Kindle Kids"? I don't have access to one but need a bit of extra info before considering purchase.

I'm wondering how secure a WiFi password might be on it once it has been entered. Is there any way the user could extract/show the saved password?

we've got a couple of Amazon Fire Kids, they love em, well, they did until they started using laptops when there was lockdown, and then found out about Roblox, so now don't use tablets much.

 

so, turn it on, and it connects to the wifi, set that up ages ago.

 

to get into the settings you have to enter a PIN, only known by me.

 

I can't see a way to show the password for our wifi

 

edit - it looks like the password is saved to my amazon account, but not in a way i can see it. i.e. should i purchase a new amazon device, when i log into my account, it will retrieve passwords etc

Is this for in school use? I wonder if there are alternatives. I feel Amazon missed a trick not working in the UK education sector. In the US they supported something called Whispercast, which apparently gave you control. But, I can't find much about it now, except this which doesn't look promising. My concern would be around KCSIE requirements if the devices are able to access the internet. Edited October 18, 2021 by Ditto

Kindles are useless in education, there's sod all way for us to manage them or en mass deploy anything. It's all based around personal amazon accounts.

 

Amazon keep doing donations of £1000 worth of kindles to schools, but this is just a way for them to get in the press as "doing something good" in reality, they're useless.

I guess broadly that was my view - I was just less succinct . Shame really as I'm using a Kindle fire right now and it's a nice little device, but not for school.

 

*** Edit; Just had a cool thought. Imagine if CloudReady did Neverware to convert a Kindle into a chrometab! Never gonna happen though! ***
