Sydders01 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Hi All, I have this issue with my server 2016. The error is below "Computer Policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encounter: The processing of group policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\ domain name.local\sysvol\domain name.local\policies\{7………" I have deleted that file and client pc are still not updating properly and as a result drives mapped via group policies are playing up. Please Help Thanks
MatthewL Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Firstly can you browse to that oath as a user on the computer? What is the exact message you get if you do a gpupdate? I've had to delete the .pol file on the client and let it download before. If just that policy is playing up disable it and check others work ok, then maybe recreate if all else doesn't fail.
Sydders01 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 Hi @MatthewL How do I locate the .pol file. The exact error is below. I have replaced my domain name with mydomain "The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\mydomain.local\SysVol\mydomain.local\Policies\{734670F1-CC2E-4B4D-835F-AA18981B15D9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following: a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller. b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled" Firstly can you browse to that oath as a user on the computer? What is the exact message you get if you do a gpupdate? I've had to delete the .pol file on the client and let it download before. If just that policy is playing up disable it and check others work ok, then maybe recreate if all else doesn't fail.
