Connect the Classroom DFE Funded wifi6 solution for eligible schools

Hello all

 

We have been given the go ahead for free funding to upgrade our current wifi.

 

The specs required by the DFE are quite substantial and I was wondering have any one used the Adept wireless solution under this DFE Scheme.

 

I can not see them on the list of approved suppliers.

As long as you do the procurement to your normal rules then who you choose doesn’t matter.

Not well versed in this, but we support it and can provide it to schools etc. I have no idea on the politics of being on a list etc, thats really not my jam.

 

What I would say is your internal devices need to be taken in to account, we've got a school using WiFi6 and out of the 24 devices connected right now to that channel/setup, all are mobile devices/phones, so no laptops or Windows devices etc so worth taking that into account, you'll get a new WiFi set up for future-proofing, but your devices may not gain any benefit directly.

Thanks to Snagrat and Paddy for getting back to us.

I have contacted our local Authority who are more than happy to look into this, as we need help with the proposals the DFE have given us and extras we wish to add on.

Idealy we would love it all to be authenticated by LGFL USO, if that can be possible.

At the moment we have a hp system with no support but a wing and a prayer, and no more firmware updates. So looking forward to this new system and we want to get it right, as at the moment am clueless in Seattle.

We can do it both USO and preshared key if you need for shared devices/basic authentication etc.

 

Feel free to call or have the LA buzz one of us and we can explain what you get authentication wise, but I'm sure they already know

Yes that will be fun 250 users now harassing me for their USO user name and password because hopefully we have a wifi system that can accommodate all staff and pupils personnel devices.
