Anyone using Grandstream WP810 WiFi VOIP phones ?

Hi all,

 

Anyone using Grandstream WP810 WiFi VOIP phones ?

 

I had these put in a few months ago and am having loads of problems with them.

 

 

They: Keep freezing, drop calls, don't ring, buttons become unresponsive, call quality is hit and miss, always need rebooting to clear the problem.

 

Firmware is up to date.

They're on their own SSID.. AES encryption.

Wifi shows good strength on the handset.

 

One thing I haven't done is put them on their own VLAN which is happening soon.

 

Tried them on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz exclusively... no difference.

 

QOS is enabled on our switches but can't find any QOS settings on our old Ruckus Zonedirector Z1100.

 

Cisco switches have auto voice VLANs enabled --- may need to play with this.

 

Odd thing is that the cabled deskphones are fine.

 

 

Are these handsets just cr@p ?

Did you get anywhere with the problems you were having? I have been testing a couple of handsets pre migration from our current phone system. We will have 100 of the handsets you mention if we go ahead but we are having constant problems with our testing as you described above.

I sent them back to the vendor in the end.

 

They are horrendously terrible. Totally unfit for purpose.

 

I did everything I could on our network to try to get these working. Nothing made any difference.

 

Get DECT handsets if you need wireless. I would avoid wifi phones altogether if I were you. I haven't read a single good thing about them. I just went for cabled and DECT's in the end and have had zero problems.

 

Do yourself a gigantic favour and don't go ahead and order them whatever you do!!

Thank you for the update, it's good to be able to go back to SLT that another school have faced similar problems to the ones we have had during testing.

 

Good to hear you came up with a working solution also, we are now looking at the Yealink Multi-Cell systems.
