Zoidy Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Hi all, We currently have our DNS with Capita (for legacy SIMS reasons I'm guessing), but they recently deleted our MX record by mistake and we lost around 3 days of emails. I have been trying to find out who I can move the DNS records to and whether Capita have control of our school subdomain (below Croydon.sch.uk) or not. Is anyone able to shed some light on how school subdomains work? Nominet have not been very helpful. Cheers, Pete.
mavhc Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Cloudflare is probably the best option. There's also NameCheap Free DNS that I've used to 10 years with 0 problems
BKGarry Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 You can use anyone for your external DNS, we use TSOhosts, we transferred over from LEA local support team. The school owns the subdomain the schools.county.sch.uk you can use whoever you want there.
Zoidy Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Thanks, I was thinking of Cloudflare for DNS, but couldn't find who has our domain so I can change the pointer. I'll have to ask Capita direct if they are managing the domain as well.
BKGarry Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 You can use whoever you want there, it sounds like Capita will be able to start their end of the transfer if they are managing your records.
