Satellite Pro R50-EC-13V supervisor password

I have a Satellite Pro R50-EC-13V with a supervisor password set, I know the password but there is no option to enter it to exit read-only mode. Does anyone know how to find where to enter the supervisor password?

We have some very old Toshiba laptops and pressing INS first works on some, (or F2) just at the TOSHIBA splash screen (you have to turn off 'Fast Start-up' in Windows though or you will never see that appear).

I have tried f2 and INS but they did not work but I had fast start-up enabled will disable it and see if that works

have now tried with fast start-up disabled and only f2 gets to bios but still wont let me type the supervisor password any ware, INS dose nothing

That's as much as I know I'm afraid...

 

Our Toshiba laptops are Tecra, so may not work the same, but all the Google results for getting into the bios on Toshiba laptops suggest the INS key first.

 

Like in the other EDUGEEK thread it may need a full power off (battery and power supply out), holding INS when turning back on, or it may just be a timing issue as the splash screen flashes up pretty fast.

 

I don't need to get into the bios very often and always forget and it always frustrates me until I remember about turning off fast start-up and then that it only works on a full power-off and not a restart and then press INS on the splash screen and not F2 (it still doesn't always work if the timing isn't right).

 

I've even saved a note in my work folder that I found on the Internet...

Not knowing the laptop model though, I presume you've tried all the other common bios keys?

 

F1, del, Esc...?

yep tried F1,F2,F10,F11,ESC,Del but no luck

We had one of the R50s that a student had set a password and didnt know the password [emoji848].

 

The laptop ended up on the "for spare parts" pile.
