Lightspeed Does not Filter our iPads internet.

Any Lightspeed experts here?

Our recently acquired Lightspeed Filter\Alert filters internet browsing our Windows devices but will not filter our iPads.

Our iPads have the Lightspeed Smart Agent installed via our Mosyle MDM. On the iPad when the smart agent is open a red dot appear on the cloud icon which apparently means it is not connected to the the Lightspeed servers.

Have you deployed your filtering cert. I had a similar problem at one of my schools. Internet on the iPads would not show a webpage installed cert via mdm started working.

Thanks @r0cketbev. The issue we are having is that the iPads can access websites but sites like social media, gambling etc are not being filtered. Lightspeed uses an app deployed by MDM rather than a ssl certificate.

Lightspeed has this on there website. I am guessing you have done the 3rd party thing.

@r0cketbev is completely right that you need the filtering cert to get this working correctly. If you’re still having problems please feel free to reach out to our support department who will be happy to help on 0204 534 5202.

Found the problem. My test iPad was enrolled in our MDM but was not supervised, apparently the Web filter plugin profile that is configured in the MDM is only compatible with supervised iPads. I prepared the iPad using Configurator 2 once it was showing in Apple School Manager & our MDM I moved it to the group where the filter profile is linked now web browsing is filtered.

Hi all, correction on the post from yesterday.

 

The certificate is only required if you are using a Relay Rocket (aka Network Agent) to proxy traffic for Google and YouTube, otherwise the certificate is not required.

 

The guide r0cketbev sent is still the one to follow for iOS Smart Agent deployments though, but no certificate is required for Smart Agent only filtering.
