Big Sur + Mac Mini = Black Screen

I finally got round to updating our little Mac Mini yesterday as it had been sitting in the updates screen bugging me for a while now.

 

So I set it off and went home, came in today to a black screen.

 

Quick Google suggests it was quite a serious problem for a lot of older Macs 6 months ago when it was released... I guess it hasn't been sorted?

 

What to do?

 

Most answers seem to suggest it is now a brick unless I want to start taking it apart and unplugging the I/O board!

I'd re-install the last OS for the moment. Big Sur has plenty of problems at the moment. Wait a while.

Can you link me to somewhere detailing instructions on how to do this please? I'm not a Mac user and all I've got at the moment is a black screen!!
