Hi IT People,

 

I am testing Intune on Hyper v setup. I am trying to connect a pyhsical USB to a virtual machine. it says take USB offline on you computer but i am unable to take USB offline no option for that . Any help please

Thansk for the reply. I have all this setup on a Windows 10 machine not actaully using a Hypervisor box . All done virtuall on a windows 10 machine.

It's the same principle on a pc too, you can't share the USB with 2 OSs at once using pass-thru (OS level), so take it offline on Win10 machine, and then it'll allow it inside the VM

 

Alternatively, if you're RDSing into the VM pass it thru as part of the client connect

Thanks for the reply Steve. That is the problem , I am having . I am not able take the USB offline from the Windows 10 machine.

What error is it giving you when you ask it to?

 

You said originally there was no option for it, but spr above said where it was so will need some more info as to what the error says etc :p

If you check in disk management what's it showing the USB as? (Basic or Removable?)

 

It sounds like you might not actually be using a disk, and removable storage etc which won't give that option (Think USB HDD vs USB flash etc)

Then adding them as USB disks in the VM settings isn't supported. You need to use pnp passthrough on virtual connection/RDS to get them into the VM
