inTune - Prevent Turning Off iOS WIFI

Hello,

 

We have had a couple of instances where people have turned off the WIFI and forgotten their passcodes. As a result we can't unlock the iPads easily.

 

I am wondering if there is an inTune policy to stop them from turning off the WIFI please?

I was about to say no as its not been possible in the past, the justification was always that in certain situations you need to be able to use airplane mode etc etc but I just checked JamF school and found it, according to the intune docs its also there -

 

Require Wi-Fi always on: Yes keeps Wi-Fi on in the Settings app. It can't be turned off in Settings or in the Control Center, even when the device is in airplane mode. When set to Not configured (default), Intune doesn't change or update this setting. By default, the OS might allow users to turn on or turn off Wi-Fi.

 

Configuring this setting doesn't prevent users from selecting a Wi-Fi network.

 

This feature applies to:

 

iOS 13.0 and newer

iPadOS 13.0 and newer

I'd be careful though as turning the wifi off and on again helps in many situations.

 

Pupils losing their passwords then trying too many times is a real PITA, our usb network dongle helps for many situations but there's always the kids that have tried 7+ times and have disabled it... sure it was an accident

It's worth pointing out that Jamf Pro has payloads that prevent other WiFI networks from being selected on the iPad, although this can cause more issues than not.
