techie17 Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Hi have 5 new Aruba 2930f switches, 3 of which will be in one comms room and 2 will be in another and both comms rooms are linked by 4 pairs of fibre links. Is it okay to configure all 5 as one stack despite the 2 separate locations or is this not advised? the link speed between comms rooms is 10gb. the first three switches will be connect via DAC cable and the second two will be connected by DAC cable If its not advised then i will create 2 separate stacks. Thanks
Steve21 Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Since v16~ you should be able to do all 5 together (previous versions it's 4 max), but in terms of the 2 locations I guess it depends what you're trying to get out of having it between all of them in terms of redundancy etc Unless you specifically want routing in both areas etc, I'd be more a fan of keeping them as 2 separate ones, as if something fails in the stack with a firmware upgrade etc you could take them all out at once. techie17 Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 Thanks Steve. Its was more a case of trying to keep it simple really and i wasn't sure if it was one of those things that it could be done but not recommended, if you know what I mean
