[ms office - o365] O365 licensing.... UGH!

I have just received an email informing me that an O365 subscription (Microsoft 365 Apps for Faculty) we have is about to end (although it says 04/05/2021 - I presume it actually means 5th April, but can't find anywhere to change that)....

 

Now, getting all the licenses for O365 was a bit messy and was in actual fact only for 2 apps (Word and Power Apps I think) on an iPad... The process of trying to understand what we needed and who could do it for us was frustrating and confusing to say the least... Not helped by regular emails from the Head asking me 'when it was going to be done' and 'how hard can it be?'....

 

We are not an O365 school, so literally just dabbled in it and set the whole thing up to get this one thing done (we have MVLSC and are licensed for the desktop version of Office and are a Windows estate throughout).

 

Now, as I said it was a real struggle to find out what we were entitled to and where to get it from, but we eventually got the tenant up and running.

 

There are various licenses for all sorts of things we will probably never use and I am still no wiser as to what we actually need and what is included, so I am a bit confused as to whether to renew this subscription (or even how to do it)...

 

We haven't actually 'paid' for O365 itself, only what ever comes included with an MVLSC Office subscription and I believe 'Office 365 A1 Plus' is the gold standard of what's available as far as that goes.... should I just let everything else expire or try to remove them somehow (if that's even possible)?

 

Also, if I do let them expire, the licenses that have been used (3) will have products that are covered in the A1 Plus (as those members of staff have both types of licenses assigned to them).

Let them expire and simply ensure anyone who needs the apps gets the A1 Plus assigned.
