Does anyone use Yammer?

Just wondered if anyone had experience, good or bad.

 

I'm doing some work for a non-profit medical organisation (not NHS) and I'm setting up O365 for non-profits.

 

As part of their member services they subscribe to Docmatter which is an online collaboration service for clinicians. The purpose is to allow them to publish documents relating to their specialist clinical area and promote them to their members to ensure members are up to date with best practice and to provide a platform for members to ask for advice from the experts. Docmatter has worked well, but now that the membership has grown behind a certain point, subscription has gone up and it will cost about 20% of their revenue next year.

 

I think Teams would actually facilitate everything they've put in their requirements, but they explicitly want a social network type product. Yammer would be free, but I don't want to recommend something rubbish...

The easiest way to put it is that Yammer is a Business version of Facebook. Personally i am not a fan as it just seems to complicate things more in my eyes.

 

Granted it is also fantastic at the same time. I mean previous company i worked at loved it as they had multiple offices in different countries, so sharing what is being done or communicating that way was really good for them. But just for general use i think it may be a bit meh.... Teams would be useful for you as that is such a easy way to collaborate and share files and ideas. I wouldn't say Yammer is awful to the point of avoiding using it but ultimately, its Facebook for business. And if they want that sort of thing, then yeah deffo probably the route to go down.

Thanks. I'll keep showing them the things Teams can do and hopefully that will persuade them. The system they're using is good - it just seems too expensive for their budget.
