My220x Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Can someone tell me how to make Vista recognise my AVG?
My220x Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Vista security center is saying I have no Anti-Virus.
FN-GM Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 It may be a case of AVG running after the security centre loads on logon pestering you when you start your computer you have no AV, when infact it hasn’t loaded yet.
NotSoFast Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I had this exact same problem. For me, Windows Defender wouldn't turn on either. When you search on Google all you find are newsgroups with the question, and no solution! I did solve it... eventually, and I think [cough: try this at your own risk] it was this: Right-click Command Prompt and Run as Administrator. Type the following command: winmgmt /verifyrepository If the system returns "WMI repository is not consistent", run this command: winmgmt /salvagerepository The first time you run this it will fail. (It will issue stop commands to the services causing it to fail. It might take a couple minutes for the services to shut down). Run the command again. You actually may have to run it 3 times before it finally runs and completes on its own. Reboot your system. More detail here. Comments from more knowlegeable people than me about what this actually does would be good before you break your system... 1
My220x Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Thank you NotSoFast for telling me to try that command more than once as I did try it previously when I found it on a forum but I only did it once and it didn't work. So, I have thanked you via the Thank feature.
