Teams for Primary Lessons

Hi all,

 

Currently looking for ways for the primaries within our trust to deliver safe and secure online sessions to students via video for some face to face contact time. I don't anticipate these will be lessons, but rather smaller catch-up sessions / face time with smaller groups

 

We are generally a Microsoft shop and plan on:

 

• Creating an MS account specifically for teams (not assigning licences for Exchange or anything else)
  
• Locking down via the admin console so they can do VERY little (setup calls etc.)
  
• Setup a Team per class / small group dependant on schools requirement
  
• Issue parents with clear, easy to follow guidance on how to access and a timetable of sessions etc.
  

 

My questions are:

 

• Has anyone done this via teams yet, right the way from reception to Y6? How have you found it? Any lessons learnt?
  
• I presume opt-in consent is required
  
• Have you provided support to parents?

Here Y3 up all have teams logins and Teams is setup roughly as you describe. Our Curriculum leaders decided to keep it as Year Group Teams, but this was more to help the staff than the pupils. IT does work but causes a few niggles.

 

Y2 and down, teachers create meetings, copy the meeting links and send them to the parents. Documents that are needed are with sent to us to upload to the website and provide a link back to the teacher or they use Tapestry.

 

Yes, we provide support to parents, mostly as it helps catch what the staff are doing wrong. Last week I sent an email to all parents with top tips and tricks and this was well received, might have to become a regular feature.
