Teams site Locale defaults to en-US

Hi all

Annoying issue that I been looking to resolve but I have exhausted my google know how.

 

Whenever a new teams is created it defaults it regional settings to English US which has a knock on effect when opening online documents with formatting dates etc.

 

I can see you can change the locale settings under share point / site settings / regional settings after the team has been created...

... however does anyone know how I can make these setting to default like below image

These are the settings I set on the top level share point page thinking they would inherit down but on testing it always defaults to the 1st image attachment.

Iv seen forums dating back a few years of people experiencing same symptoms but not found any resolution other than a script workaround which I am not keen on implementing.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated
