With a mountaineer friend I saw him lecture in the late 70's / early 80's. Fascinating.

Yes we saw him too. The climb fascinated me.

 

Mike Jones, a family friend, led his “Canoeing down Everest” trip on the river Dudh Kosi the same year as the “Everest the Hard Way” climb. He wanted to call his book “Everest the Wet Way” but the publisher declined.

I saw him in Stroud a couple of years ago talking about the SW face summit, absolutely fascinating. I bought a signed print of him coming off The Ogre with broken legs with Bonnington, signed by both.
