Hi

We are getting a strange issue whereby some clients are not downloading and installing windows updates and have pinpointed it to a regkey that appears on some computers after a build but not others. the reg key is

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate UpdateServiceUrlAlternate localhost:8005

All comuputers still get the WUServer and WUStatusServer keys that point to our SCCM server.

As soon as i delete this key, and re-run the actions in the sccm client software it will install the updates. Does anyone know how these regkeys get applied?

Thanks

Most likely going to be GPO

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Specify Intranet Microsoft update service location

Do a gpresults on the client machine and see if a GPO is applying Windows Update policies

Ive found the issue and its due the the "Allow clients to download detlta content when available" setting in the SCCM client properties within SCCM. I disabled it, ran the actions in the SCCM client and it got rid of those reg keys. Updates are now applying fine.
