MS Teams - students creating calendar events/meetings

Recommended Posts

I have Education (Secondary school student) policy assigned to all students.

They are unable to create teams or do meet now.... but I have found if they create a calendar event and add people, they can then hold a team meeting.

Anyone come across this and know how to stop it?

No, not a live event.

If a student goes on their calendar, then clicks on a date, they are able to create a new scheduled meeting, where they can add people.

They receive the meeting invite and have option to Join Meeting Now.

I thought with the policies in place, this would have stopped this but I was clearly wrong - unless something is broken.

Our students can do the same thing.

The fields are greyed out, they have the following text inside:

You dont have permissions to create private meetings and create channel meetings.

Ours are not greyed out and dont show the text.

I dont supposed you could confirm the settings within the policy you use please.

I haven't got access at the moment, but here is a copy and paste from a little documentation.

I am hoping its been kept up to date.

Meeting policy

· Allow Meet now in channels set to 'off'

· Allow the Outlook add-in set to 'off'

· Allow channel meeting scheduling set to 'off'

· Allow scheduling of private meetings set to 'off'

· Allow Meet now in private meetings set to 'off'
