Help I'm a windows user stuck with an eeepc

Some kids at the school set a user password on 5 eeepcs and then forgotten them.

How do I reset/recover the password!

I don't get the option to choose a user name

I did get to a console but the unix commands I remember from uni almost 10 years ago didn't work, mind you could only remember ls).

I haven't used an eeeee but do you not get a grub boot loader where you can select single user mode and then scrub the root password?

iirc, holding F9 (I think) on boot will give you the option of reset to factory defaults if all else fails - this just scrubs any changes you may have made.

Ended up retoring factory settings on all of them - don't know if deleted any work, but hey thats what happens if you set the password then forget it, may eb teach them a lesson??

Thanks to people for your ideas,

I could get into a console but had no idea what I was doing in it so gave up and restored.

I put a 4GB SD card in mine to save work to... maybe that would be handy for future reference? Then again you would have to train them how to save to the card!
