VPP sending me to apple school to purchase app

I usually purchase app from VPP then go to Jamf school, sycn and ta da, my app is there. Now VPP is saying I have to buy the apps from my apple school account. I went apple school then to apps and books and purchased some free apps. But I can't see them in Jamf school as the sycn isn't working as it syncs from VPP.

 

How can I get the app from apple school to JamF school.

Don't know but I had this yesterday but with Meraki, buying the app through School Manager (never got apps here before, it's always been the VPP store) then syncing VPP on Meraki the app appeared as normal, so not sure if that must be a Jamf specific issue then?

Did you not have to do migrate, I thought the change from the VPP system to ASM was enforced ages ago?

You're right it was everyone should have moved from VPP to Apple School Manager. This happened December last year.

Apple encouraged users to upgrade to using Apps and Books last year, whilst the VPP site (https://volume.itunes.apple.com/gb/store) was still functioning as of this morning, you may find some newer apps may redirect you to ASM.

 

It was dep.apple.com that was shuttered last year and there is no access to this any longer.

 

My advice is to switch to ASM Apps and Books, details on doing this are below, if you leave it you may find more problems later...

We brought the iPads in March 2020 and the company we got them from set it all up through the vpp and onto jamf school so if the migration was last December I feel like part of the set up was missing. At least I know know to look into the direction of migration and use your links to help me. My next step will be the jams school support desk but When I click on create a ticket it says tickets may be charged so am a little worried what cost I may occur my school! I might spend a little more time on goggle first.

If all the apps you have are free then it's very easy to switch over to Apps and Books..

 

1. Invite exising VPP user acccounts into ASM, link to do this is below

2. Transfer Licences to ASM. (If you have paid for apps) If only free apps then you can ignore this and rebuy them in Apps and Books in ASM

3. Move content token from ASM to MDM, you will need to replace the existing VPP token in Jamf School.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a cover teacher also at the school so gave been put in clsss the last few days so havent been able to look into this further. I looked last night and the issue seems to be the asm log in name. Im using my own, but the mdm is linked to a generic one . I know the password for the generic one for the vpp website but not the asm so i cant get in. I need to start a new thread for logging in help!

The login for the MDM and ASM do not have to be and are likely not to be the same...?
