If in SIMS the parent has a mobile number but it is listed as "Home" under location in the SIMS Record then Edulink will not recognise it as a Mobile number for SMS purposes.

Has anyone found this to be true?

Many of our parents our now selecting their mobile numbers as their home numbers as they do not have a landline.

If I change the location type in SIMS to "Mobile" then Edulink picks it up as a mobile number.

Sounds like it's working as designed, to be honest!

And obviously, a mobile is not a landline, so the contact number has been put in SIMS incorrectly.

As above - it'll only take what's in SIMS, so if anything it's SIMS that's a little outdated. It might still be worth asking Overnet however as they could likely add a prompt to please leave it blank or detect if the home number starts with 07 / 447 and set it as mobile, writing back to SIMS.

The problem is that SIMS does not include a category of "landline". To many people the "home" number is now their mobile so they are inputting it correctly. I agree SIMS is outdated but Edulink should be able to recognise a mobile number format regardless of if the location is set as mobile or home in SIMS.

I have contacted Overnet Data and they are looking into it as a "bug" their end.
