User Reboot Reminder Software

Hello,

 

Our network is predominantly laptops and its a 24x7 operation. As a result there really isn't a way to enforce a shutdown without causing user problems.

 

Is there some software to remind users to reboot / shutdown if they haven't done within a specified time period please? Will help getting fully compliant with things like Windows Updates.

What are you using for patch deployment, as there might be a facility in there? In SCCM for example, you can set a computer restart policy, where you define two time based settings; one to display a temporary notification that the user can dismiss, warning how long it will be before they have to restart; and a second which displays a dialog which cannot be closed, with a countdown timer on it counting down to a forced reboot. We do 1440 minutes for the notification and 720 minutes for the forced restart notification. This gives users the option to reboot at any point within 24 hours at a time convenient for them, but forces them to do so at the end of the 24 hour period (with a countdown displayed after 12 hours) and this works well for us.

We use SCCM. I will have a look at this.I guess they are in the client settings?
