mdrabble Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 I'm current using Papercut version Version: 20.0.2 (Build 54736) and have configured mobility printing and come across an issue. Student account work fine as they are charged directly to their personal accounts and no accounts are required to be selected. Here is the problem we have come across. When staff print, they are required to select a which shared account their printing is being charged to - which obviously required the Papercut client running to work. When the shared account is selected, we then charge the personal account (and allocate to shared account for reporting) If staff print using the mobility printing option - then the jobs are held due to not being able to select a shared account and therefore no way of releasing the print job. Anyone any ideas how to get around this? Cheers
meakjoe Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 We use the same setup, and when they print from their device and need to select a shared account, they need to go to http://.yourdomain.prefix:9191/client and login with their credentials. Once they have submitted a job, it should then appear on that webpage for them to allocate it to an account.
mdrabble Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 That is a bit of a faff - if they forget to have the client page open in a browser then anything they previously printed isnt shown. Is there a way they can select shared account when they go to the MFD to release the job? - similar to copying? Cheers
meakjoe Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Looks like there is, but I've never tried it... https://www.papercut.com/support/resources/manuals/ng-mf/releasestation/topics/device-mf-secure-print-release-assign-accounts-config.html We might look into it too. 1

IGB Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 That might just do the trick Cheers for the info Did this work for you? We have similar issues
mdrabble Posted October 23, 2020 Author Posted October 23, 2020 No - unfortunately - but I think that is becuase I didn't change how papercut asks staff - need to stop it using the Papercut client as a prompt. Will be able to test properly over half term but from student point of view it works really well as they don't use shared accounts.
drewp Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Not sure if this is any help, from PaperCut v19.0 Print Scripting can be used to automatically charge Mobility print jobs to the user's personal account https://www.papercut.com/kb/Main/PrintScriptingwithMobility
