Hi

How are people running Visual Studio 2019 or 2017, as we're still on 2012 as they can just be used with a serial, when we tried 2017 and 2019 a while back both of them required per user per device login, so if pupils x went on 30 machines they'd need to sign in 30 times

Thankls

Visual Studio 2019 can still be purchased with serial keys. I have one for Enterprise 2019 via my MPN subscription, no idea if you can get your hands on those keys normally though.

Do the students not have Office 365 accounts? I think the passthrough authentication on Azure AD Connect works on VS the same way it does Office and OneDrive but I've never tested it before.

I'm a layman when it comes to Visual Studio, but isn't Visual Studio Code enough?

Just throwing it out there, I wouldn't know :)

Not really. VS Code is more of a notepad ++ alternative not a replacement to the full blown VS install. Its aimed more at web developers. Its also missing a lot of features that the main VS has.

You could always use the Community editions as these don’t require serials number but do require someone to sign in with either a 365 account or MS account.

Problem is we had these installed but you have to sign in per device per user and we're a google site
