[1909, ou] Issue with roaming profile

Hi all,

 

We are currently using Windows 10 v1909 and all is working well, apart from when a user restarts a PC without logging off and then tries to log back in they get a "User profile cannot be loaded" error message.

 

If we turn off the "Delete cached copies of roaming profiles" GPO then they can restart the PCs and log back in fine, however with many students and staff members this wouldn't be very good for the hard disk.

 

I have also tried using Delprof as a startup/shutdown script as a method to try and clear the profiles but then they get the same error on restart.

 

Any suggestions?

I've been upgrading to 1909 and having a nightmare (just odd behaviour on first logins and randomness) with Profiles both roaming (we still a few) and local ones. A new user works absolutely fine but the moment they log off and back in anything can happen with the profile. In the end i switched to 2004 (it wasn't available via windows update yet but can be downloaded via the upgrade assistant)

so far it's worked fine and seems alittle quicker on the older pc's. Perhaps you could try testing one?.

I would seriously consider stop using RUP. I believe MS are trying to deprecate them. If you are licenced I'd look at FSLogix.

I don't think Microsoft supports roaming profiles any more, we just local profiles here and works perfectly.

Ditto, roaming profiles were being killed off ages ago and certainly no longer supported. Use the remediation time to change.
