CyBeRkId2002 Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Hi all, Just migrating one of the servers I look after from Server 2008r2 to Server 2019. In the process of moving printers and just wondered what is the correct way of redirecting to the new server in Group Policy for anyone who has done it (currently not on site - no-one is actually) so difficult to test whether it has gone through correctly. For info the Server Names and Share Names are exactly the same as the previous server (did an export/import from Print management). Is it a matter of leaving the GPP as update and change the mapping to the new server name, or do I need to set the current ones to delete and re-add the new ones? Trying to avoid having duplicate printers listed confusing users. Any help appreciated.
snagrat Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 You say the server name and share names are the same as the old? In which case, why do you have to do anything? When I migrate I ensure the names do not change and then everything just continues to work
