soapyfish Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Hi Everyone, I have been asked to store audio recordings of the pronunciation of various staff/student names ideally inside SIMS.net so that if staff are having difficulty pronouncing first or last names they can listen to the recorded version for help. I have already planned to create a new "user defined field in SIMS for the storing on a phonetically spelt version to help staff but being able to upload audio files would be a great. Has anyone else been asked to doing anything like this ?
paulkerton Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I love this idea, but I don't know how easily it would be to initiate in SIMS. It'd be great if you could type in a line using the international phonetic alphabet and it could automatically read it out. It's definitely something all MIS's should be able to provide, and at this point I'm going to @Bromcom_Support into this great idea. 1
bobsmith Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Best of luck - I've never even considered it. Can you even store then play an audio file through SIMS?
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 You can store it as a linked document and it will play with the default program for that file type when "viewed". We had a school who stored CCTV video files in the linked documents for Behavior incidents that were caught on camera. 1
