Sonic007 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) I've got a Windows Server Backup on a USB hard drive and now want to restore it to one of my HyperV VM's. So Ive made sure I can pick up the drive in the VM and can clearly see it. When I load up Windows Server Backup however all I get when I select the restore location and local connection are the CD Drive. Is there any way I can get this backup off this drive and picked up in the Windows Server Backup? Many thanks all. Edited June 25, 2020 by Sonic007
Steve21 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Was it actually created from that server? (As in does it show in your list of backups? As a baremetal etc), or are you trying to do a new VM with a different backup image? Haven't used a direct backup in ages, but if it's a different machine you used to have to restore the catalogs before it'll show up wbadmin restore catalog -backupTarget:e etc Then it should show as a backup you can do it directly from (but again, not used direct WSB in a long time so they might have made it easier) Steve 1
Sonic007 Posted June 25, 2020 Author Posted June 25, 2020 The backup is from my main domain controller VM server. I have setup a new test server and hoped to restore it to that to check it is all working.
