EYRC_Matt_Lawson Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Hello I have a school email me yesterday asking if I could get a smartboard serial to USB adapter, I've had a look around and they are discontinued and out of stock everywhere. Can anybody point me in the right direction of where to get one, or you may have one kicking around your school that you could sell? Any help would be appreciated Matt
unixman_again Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) I have two of these I also have a USB to USB Smart cable. You can have it for the taking. I have this Promethean stuff too Edited June 10, 2020 by unixman_again
Norphy Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Failing that, does it have to be a Smart specific thing or will any USB to RS232 adaptor work? If so, I recommend getting one with an FTDI chipset as these generally work whereas ones based on the Prolific PL2303 are more problematic. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-Connecting-Switches-Celestron-Telescope/dp/B00QUZY4L0/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=ftdi&qid=1591785152&sr=8-7
EYRC_Matt_Lawson Posted June 11, 2020 Author Posted June 11, 2020 (edited) That's great @unixman_again. Would you mind sending them to the school for me? Not sure of the best way to do it, would you like anything for them? Many thanks Edited June 11, 2020 by elsiegee40
